Vandals attack vacation home of dentist who killed Cecil
Cecil’s was first injured by arrow and crossbow on June 31, 2015, to which American dentist (who killed Cecil, Jericho was killed by another American in circumstances still being investigated) Walter Palmer has taken credit.
This follows a homemade sign criticizing Palmer, which someone stuck in the yard of the vacation home last week.
“Every 15 minutes somebody would call, sometimes they’d hang up, sometimes they’d leave a message, sometimes I’d answer and they’d just yell at me, swear, curse, and then hang up”, Dr. Matt Palmer said.
“We don’t expect anything more to happen”.
“This must be condemned in the strongest possible terms by all genuine, animal-loving conservationists who believe in sustainable utilisation of natural resources”, she added.
Bronkhorst has pleaded not guilty.
“Some insane people did that …”
“The pigs feet were pretty fresh, and the spray paint”, he said.
“At the very least maybe we can show the world that not all Americans are like this jackhole here”, he said, as a photo of a smiling Palmer advertising his dental practice filled on the screen.
But WildCRU has also come under fire after it emerged that its research into African wildlife is funded by companies that support “sustainable trophy hunting“.
Dan Politt, 16, was with his parents at the home Wednesday afternoon bleaching the bright blotches left by the pigs feet that were staining Palmer’s driveway.
“SCI has imposed immediate emergency membership suspensions of both the involved hunter and his guide/professional hunter, and they will remain in place pending the outcome of an investigation”, the group said in a statement.
If true, I think Palmer, his guide, and the landowner should be punished as per Zimbabwe law for lion poaching.
Bronkhorst faces a fine of $20000 (about R250000) and up to 10 years in jail.
A private security agency is now protecting a Marco Island home that was vandalized after its owner drew worldwide ire for killing a venerated lion in Zimbabwe.
Madeline Doran, Fort Myers animal rights activist and former educator, said this sideshow distracts from the true problem. I enjoy those things all the more when I can do them with my wife, Annie (a Minnesota native). Not only the kind of trophy hunting fat cats like Palmer indulge in, but even the controlled use of hunting to manage wildlife populations or provide needed food for people in rural areas.
Palmer paid $50,000 to a local guide to hunt Cecil.
Alaska Bowhunting Supply didn’t immediately respond Sunday to a request for comment, and it wasn’t clear how the hunting supply company learned such details about the hunt.
Wounded, the black-maned lion managed to escape – but was allegedly tracked down and killed 40 hours later. Zimbabwe is seeking his extradition.
