Vander Plaats To Meet With Trump
Addressing evangelical leaders from across the country in New York City, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee did not specify whether he would back some form of the controversial religious freedom laws that have been passed in some states and introduced by House conservatives.
The meeting is meant to allow Christian leaders to “better understand [Trump] as a person” while helping the candidate to “better appreciate” what Christians want done in Washington, the paper reported. He says he’s now talking with the Trump campaign about doing more outreach to “communities that have felt neglected by the Republican party in the past”, particularly black Americans.
The meeting changed his attitude, he said, and he didn’t think he was the only one who left feeling hopeful about Trump as a candidate.
“He would have to win my vote”.
In defense of religious liberty, he said he would strike down the IRS ruling that is said to prevent non-profit groups, including churches, from endorsing political candidates. The terrorism issue is important. “It was fantastic spirit, religion is under fire in this country”.
“I’m not going to repeat it and I doubt you’d print it anyways”, Lafferty said Tuesday.
It is these luminaries the meeting in NY is meant to convince that Trump could be their man.
Host Seth Meyers remarks on the Republicans who are avoiding the conversation of their presumptive presidential candidate, Donald Trump.
Lafferty, executive director of the Orange County-birthed Traditional Values Coalition, was more concerned about some coarse language Trump has used about women. That would go a long way.
“Christianity – I owe so much to it in so many ways”. “He gained a lot by coming here”, he said. “Especially Christians, who try actively to examine their souls”. She’s been in the public eye for years and years and yet there’s nothing out there. Sounds like he’s implying here that Obama’s Christianity has always been dubious, whether because he’s a Rev. Wright disciple or a closet Muslim or for some other unspecified reason (my pet theory is that he’s an atheist, of course), and that Hillary’s should be too.
At the meeting at a Marriott hotel in Times Square, Trump repeatedly stressed his own faith bona fides.
Trump’s job on Tuesday, she said, will be to reassure them “if they put all this effort and time and money and blood, sweat and tears and credibility on the line, that they’re not embarrassed”.
As a presidential candidate, Bachmann expressed indifference to anti-gay bullying over the course of her campaign.
[H] e introduced more than civil rights issues. “Evangelicals are very supportive of the nation of Israel”. He also emphasized the way he’s raised his family. Some of what he said needs to be clarified a bit. “Through life, through having incredible children, through so many other things. There are many out there that I think would like to, but there is some uncertainty”.
As president, he said, he’d work on things including: “freeing up your religion, freeing up your thoughts”. Gonidakis said he would cast his convention ballot for Kasich and then support the GOP nominee. Trump performed very poorly among voters who regularly attend religious services. I don’t need someone to counsel me as president. But I fear that he will, in the end, bring disgrace upon those individuals and organizations who publicly embrace him. “We were talking about the present threat to America”. “May God help us”.
