Vanessa Hudgens crushed it as Rizzo in Fox’s ‘Grease
Earlier in the day, Vanessa announced her dad’s sad passing and insisted she would perform in his honour. Both the directors managed to give a three hour saga of energized and thrilling performance that the audience, live and at home, are adoring and praising on social media.
Sunday’s production was dedicated to Greg Hudgens, father of Vanessa Hudgens, who played Rizzo. Fox’s Grease: Live garnered a total of 12.2 million viewers, according to Variety.
Elsewhere, fans congratulated her both on her performance, and her absolute bravery and professionalism in carrying on under such hard circumstances. Julianne Hough and Aaron Tveit worked well together as Sandy and Danny, and Carly Rae Jepsen’s sweet take on Frenchy was engaging. However, Vanessa insisted that it was important to her to be in the show. “It’s a terrible disease, ‘ but that’s only because I hadn’t been faced it personally”, she said. He tweeted about having his mind blown by her girlfriend’s brilliant performance and being “in tears” as Hudgens sang “Worst Things”. Hudgens didn’t just deliver, she captivated. Vanity Fair shared that albeit many similarities from the 1978 version will be observed in “Grease: Live!”, producers and sponsors to this project asked that the language be toned down.
“I definitely watched [Grease] growing up”. First, with “Freddy My Love”, Keke Palmer reminded fans of her stellar vocal abilities. Now that I’m older, I’m like, oh my God. It’s just one of those musicals that you never get sick of because it’s so much fun.
