Vanessa Hudgens thanks fans for support after Grease
Network Fox got in on the popularity of live musicals with their recent production “Grease: Live”, which aired on January 31 and seems to have won over many viewers and critics. It would have been understandable for the producers to take the easy way out and cut down the number of dancers in an effort to simplify things for live TV. “Doing #greaselive was one of the most incredible experiences and I’m so glad you guys liked it as much as I did…”
Hudgens’ strong performance came only hours after father died of cancer. “She felt that her father would want her to perform, and she’s a professional and she knows that the show has to go on, as any actor of the theater or in a live event knows”, he continued.
‘Tonight, I do the show in his honor, ‘ the 27-year-old told her fans of her role as Rizzo.
This puts Grease: Live above The Wiz Live! “[‘Hamilton” director Thomas] Kail’s production certainly raised the bar in terms of how much razzle-dazzle, innovation and star power these extravaganzas will need to have… The three-hour broadcast was like a party you never wanted to end. NBC’s December telecast earned a 3.4/11 rating for the 18-49 range with 11.5 million viewers overall.
The highly-anticipated TV musical was dedicated to the star’s father, Gregory Hudgens, who was 65.
The two were united in their grief as they arrived together. With the audience dancing alongside, this was a celebration for all.
What was your favorite moment from Grease Live? . The casting of Julianne Hough as Sandy was a no-brainer.
I looked at her in the eyes and said, ‘Can you do this? “Just thinking of my girl and praying for her strength today”.
And the inclusion of artists like Boyz II Men, Jessie J and Joe Jonas’ band, DNCE, helped send the show over the top – and Twitter into a frenzy.
