Vanessa Hudgens To Lead DC Entertainment TV Comedy Powerless
TV Line revealed that Vanessa Hudgens has landed the lead role in the pilot episode of NBC’s upcoming DC Comics comedy Powerless. Try selling insurance to superheroes.
The workplace comedy is definitely something new for the musical star-and something new for the DC Comics world, which is all over TV in one-hour drama form (Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Gotham, Supergirl, etc.). Emily loves her job as an insurance claims adjuster but is getting frustrated by all the superheroes flying around, THR reports. She finds herself increasingly exasperated by the disruptive antics of the various superheroes in her city.
The single camera half-hour sitcom was written by Ben Queen. The pilot will be directed by Michael Patrick Jann.
This will be DC’s first half-hour-long comedy series.
Vanessa Hudgens is staging a return to series television.
Hudgens was most recently seen as Rizzo in Fox’s Grease: Live. Hudgens rose to fame in the last decade playing Gabriella Montez in the High School Musical movies, and her other big screen appearances were in films like Sucker Punch, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, Spring Breakers and Machete Kills. But it could be in contention for a slot on NBC’s fall 2016 schedule.
