Vardy keeps Leicester’s Premier League title charge rolling
Jamie Vardy of Leicester celebrates a goal.
Jamie Vardy insisted he plans to stay at Leicester after his wonder goal inspired the Foxes to a 2-0 win over Liverpool.
Leicester attempted to force Jamie Vardy out of the King Power Stadium exit door over the summer after agreeing a £5m deal with Sheffield Wednesday, according to reports from Football Insider.
“I don’t feel too good and need a few more minutes, that’s all”.
“I think we have showed a row of more than okay performances so you can say we have a little bit more consistency even when we have made a lot of changes”. “He watched the ball arriving, watched the opponent and watched the keeper”.
“It’s not a coincidence we’re top of the table”, Leicester midfielder Danny Drinkwater said.
It has often been said that, in pursuit of winning a first Premier League title since 2004, the north London club should have invested heavily in a proven striker.
It leaves the Reds a colossal 11 points off of the top-four and 16 behind the league-leading Foxes, who were better in all departments on the night, and Klopp was left irritated by the fact his side failed to take advantage of the chances they had.
The exciting game got the goal it deserved when Vardy scored an English goal scorer’s goal that would make Alan Shearer proud.
Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has pointed the finger at his side’s poor creative play as the reason for their defeat to Premier League leaders Leicester City.
Taking tiki-taka to a whole new level, Leicester put together a string of delightful one-touch passes to work the ball into the box, and it took a desperate last-ditch challenge from Mamadou Sakho and Alberto Moreno to stop Shinji Okazakigoing through on goal.
While still not favourites for the title, they have lasted better than anyone could possibly have predicted, and will fancy their chances if they can get positive results in their next two games, against fellow challengers Manchester City and Arsenal.
Liverpool never looked like getting back into the game and any faint hopes they had of salvaging a point were extinguished when Vardy scored his second, this time with his left foot and from close range, to take his tally for the season to 18 in the league.
“For me it s important to see my players fight and try to win”.
Man City were under the cosh for long periods at Sunderland but hung on for Pellegrini’s 65th win in 100 Premier League matches in charge – a record bettered only by former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho (73).
