Vegas Play of the Day: Bucks at Warriors
Before NBA fans tune in to see how badly the Warriors beat the Bucks, the best matchup of the night is arguably in San Antonio.
Klay Thompson scored a season-high 43 points in three quarters and hit eight 3-pointers.
Curry had 25 points, two rebounds, seven assists, with one steal, while Green listed another triple-double with 16 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists, that came along with five steals, and one rejection. And the Suns could only muster 37 points combined, which was nine less than the Warriors had in the third quarter alone.
Golden State Warriors’ Andrew Bogut (12) is called for a flagrant foul against Milwaukee Bucks’ Michael Carter-Williams (5) in the first quarter of their game at Oracle Arena in Oakland on December 18, 2015.
The Warriors trailed by as many as 15 points in the third quarter before showing signs of life and responding with an 11-2 run. He’s had a heck of a career thus far and a big part of why they win ballgames. More importantly, the Bucks once again didn’t look intimidated by a Warrior team that had all the motivation in the world to prove last Saturday’s loss in Milwaukee was a fluke.
Because of the long time from their first loss of the season to their win against the Phoenix Suns, it seemed the Golden State Warriors were in some sort of crisis. His explosion sparked Golden State’s tremendous fourth-quarter offense, as the Warriors outscored Milwaukee 36-19 in the game’s final period to avoid their second loss of the season.
Draymond Green thought the Bucks celebrated too much last week when they defeated the Warriors, and he had plenty to say during the week leading up to the game. “We use our length on the defensive end and on the offensive end and we try to make it as tough as possible for them”. But Green also made a comment about Carter-Williams being a bench player and making light of that status.Mayo and Green were nose to nose several times Friday and argued as they walked off the court following the Warriors’ comeback victory. “When we take care of the ball and get after it on defense…” The Bucks came into the game 26th in offensive efficiency, averaging 95 points a game. Curry hit a 3-pointer in the opening minute to extend his streak to 100 straight regular-season games with a 3-pointer. “The fight was there and the intent was right”, coach Jason Kidd said. We were kind of laughing at some of the stuff going on. “I think it lifts the spirit of everyone”.
Mayo continued, saying of Green, “You talk about one guy’s class, and then you go the same route”. Center Greg Monroe, their big free-agent acquisition this summer, sustained a mild knee injury earlier this week that forced him to miss the last two games and could keep him out of action. Then it was Curry and Thompson’s turn to punish the bucks down the stretch, though Milwaukee did find a counter by repeatedly running plays through Giannis on the block.
