Vehicle seat recall: Britax receives 74 reports of defective carriers
– Britax Child Safety is recalling two versions of its infant auto seat because the carry handle can crack and break.
The 70,000 auto seats were manufactured between October 2014 and July 2015 and were sold at Babies R Us, Buy Buy Baby, Target and at online retailers like Amazon.
Among the models that are part of the recall are: B-Safe 35 (E9LU65M, E9LU65P, E9LU63F, E9LU66R, E9LS63F, EXLU65M), B-Safe 35 Elite (E9LS55T, E9LS56P, E9LS55U, E9LS66C, E9LS65U), and B-Safe 35 Travel System (S914900, S915400, S915200, S921900, S01635200).
Britax received 74 complaints about the handles cracking or breaking.
Those who have registered their product with Britax will automatically receive a free fix kit. Model numbers and the date of manufacture (DOM) are printed on a label located at the back of the infant auto seat/carrier shell. According to Britax, the answer to that question is “no”. Check your vehicle seat.
If you purchased a carrier, you should stop using it immediately until the handle can be repaired.

Britax is also recalling thousands of strollers and replacement top seats due to a choking hazard.
Britax responded to Mary’s comment shortly after she initially posted it. The company stated that “it takes a certain period of time to fully understand the cause for any reported product malfunction” as well as to come up with a “suitable and permanent remedy to guard against additional issues”.
