Venkaiah Naidu announces Rs 3250 crore package to decongest Delhi
The “Swachh Delhi Abhiyan” was introduced by Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu in the presence of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Various projects to be taken up in this regard will be funded from the urban development fund of the Ministry of Urban Development.
Naidu also announced a package of Rs 1,500 crore for the Delhi government for work on decongestion of roads, construction of underpasses and flyovers projects.
From sparing no opportunity to attacking each other, the BJP-led Centre and the AAP-ruled Delhi government are now working in tandem to decongest and cleanse Delhi with even the BJP-ruled civic bodies on board.
Union minister Venkaiah Naidu has launched Swachh Delhi Abhiyan on Sunday.
On the occasion, the amount of Rs. 96 crore announced for cleanliness in Delhi was further sanctioned to the municipal corporations, which have been facing funds-crunch in recent months.
Construction of1 km long Rail under Bridge at Holambi and Rail Over Bridge of 1.40 km length at Mundka, on Eastern Urban Road-I at a cost of Rs. 615 cr.
He stated that of the Rs 1500 crore, Rs 962 crore will alone go towards completion of the Barapullah road construction project.
“Rs 300 crore for making a tunnel near Bhagya Vihar and Rs 350 crore for Dwarka Expressway from Urban Eastern Road-II to Northern Peripheral Road for decongesting Outer Ring Road and NH-8 respectively”, he said. Naidu said a special task force has been setup to resolve the on-going tussle between municipal corporations and DDA over property tax issue.
“Let’s come together and clean Delhi end to end, it’s not rocket science”, the Delhi chief minister said. The Minister urged the Delhi Government and municipal bodies to speed up construction of toilets in national capital.
Naidu said at the launch. DDA has released Rs 18.70 crore to the three corporations as service charge.
Under the Swachch Delhi scheme, the municipal corporations have now got Rs.34.53 crore for North MCD, Rs.24.56 crore for East MCD, Rs.23.64 crore for South MCD, 3.32 crore to Delhi Cantonment Board, Rs.4.89 crore to Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Boar DUSIB and Rs. 70 lakhs for NDMC.
The Minister informed that the central government is taking up policy and regulatory measures to promote conversion of municipal solid waste into energy and compost, urging the Delhi CM to ensure availability of two sites at Sultanpur Dabri and Bajitpur from out of Gaon Sabha lands for land filling.
