Verizon Adds Mobile DVR Access to FiOS
Verizon announced Monday that it will be allowing all FiOS subscribers stream DVR content onto their mobile devices. As well as recorded content, the Fios app supports streaming of every channel you’re subscribed to, as well as on-demand content.
Additionally, the new software update lets FiOS customers watch their full live TV lineup via the app when they are connected to the home network – something that Comcast now provides to X1 subs via its Xfinity TV app for smartphones and tablets and Web browsers.
The new Fios Quantum TV Mobility features are available to customers with both Verizon‘s Fios Quantum TV and Fios internet service. And if you’re a Verizon Fios Mobile user, you’d be happy to know that app was recently updated to make your media streaming experience better than ever. Through this functionality, subscribers can either pause, play or rewind a live TV show.
Users can also manage their DVR recording schedule remotely. Dish has its Dish Anywhere app which also lets you stream DVR and live TV while on the go, but again with certain limitations for some shows. The new feature has been rolling out since the start of November, but is now available all Fios TV markets. The app also has a parental control lock.
“The latest innovations of the FiOS Mobile app are how today’s consumers want to watch TV and view content”, said Susan Retta, Verizon’s VP of Consumer Marketing.
