Vernon Adams passes final, set to join the Ducks
The former Eastern Washington star told The Register-Guard on Thursday night that he passed perhaps the most scrutinized math test ever taken and will finally join the Ducks as a graduate transfer.
In two Pac-12 road starts, Adams passed for 886 with 11 touchdowns and no interceptions in games against the Ducks’ primary rivals – Oregon State (during a 49-46 victory in 2013) and Washington (during a 59-52 loss in 2014). He accompanied the post with a photo of himself in his cap and gown holding his son. NCAA rules allow players who have graduated to transfer to another school without having to sit out a season. This is coming right after he posted another picture calling out all of his “haters” and that he “never wanted all of this attention”. After backing up Marcus Mariota for the last two seasons, Lockie is hoping for the keys to the high-powered Ducks’ offense.
In three seasons at Eastern Washington, Adams passed for 10,438 yards and 110 touchdowns, with 31 interceptions at EWU.
Oregon’s coaching staff expected Adams to graduate in June and join his future teammates in offseason workouts. I’m the first one in my family to earn a degree. Since he had already announced his intention to leave the program, EWU coach Beau Baldwin made it clear Adams would not be welcomed back to the team if he could not finish his degree in time to join the Ducks. But everything happens for a reason, right?. He also set the conference mark for career touchdowns with 136. Oregon finished the season ranked No. 2.
Still, Adams obviously has some catching up to do if he wants to lead the Ducks in their season opener on September 5 at Autzen Stadium. “That has to play out”, Helfrich said.
