Versace kicks off Paris couture week in style
As Lara Stone appeared on the Atelier Versace catwalk, it was clear that this couture collection was going to be something a little different.
Michelle Rodriguez, Carine Roitfeld, Dita von Teese, Olivia Palermo were joined by designers Donatella Versace, Christian Louboutin, Marc Jacobs and models Karlie Kloss, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Irina Shayk, Lily Donaldson, Anja Rubik, Sasha Pivovarova, Joan Smalls, Natasha Poly, Doutzen Kroes and more for the amfAR Paris dinner.
There were wispy, trailing gowns with delicately frayed edges, winding their way around models’ bodies.
Paired with radiant skin and moss-green smoky eyes (a fresh take on a Donatella signature makeup look), this runway beauty is perfectly summery and eminently wearable.
“For me a corset represents the toughness of a woman,” explained Versace.
“Not romantic. But we all have a softer side”, she said, reports British newspaper The Independent. We thought we were over this look, but it turns out that we are here for these delicate crowns embellished with chiffon and velvet beaded petals-after all, everyone looks good in flowers, especially when the headpiece has more in common with jewelry than the floral section of your local craft store. Of course, all the supers turned out for the couture show, including Kendall Jenner, Karlie Kloss and Naomi Campbell (although the latter sat FROW-side rather than walking), making for one typically A-list affair.
