Veteran actress Sadhana passes away
Talking about the actress Sanjay said, “Sadhanaji going away like this triggered off my childhood memories”.
Sadhana stayed away from the public eye after she quit films. She died at the age of 74 and taken to Hinduja hospital.
Sadhana was not just known for her versatility and effervescent beauty.
Sadhana’s parents were very supportive of her career choice, which was quite rare in those times. His daughter, Babita, also acted in a few films before marrying Randhir Kapoor. This song later went on to become a chart buster. Her tight body-hugging churidar-kurtis remain a much imitated fashion in Bollywood. The film was declared a hit at the box office and was listed in the top 10 films of 1960.
But after being diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, she retired from films.
A third trouble involved a defamation case against her filed by Yusuf soon after his release claiming that he was falsely implicated in the case.
The film also introduced the actress’s iconic hairstyle. “The idea clicked as the fringe worked wonders and became famous as Sadhana cut”. In blockbuster movie Waqt she paired up with Sunil Dutt as a chirpy young woman. The song “Abhi Na Jaao Chodkar” featuring the two actors remains evergreen. Also, Salman Khan’s family who is known to be close to her, are reaching at her place any time now. Sadhana was bid adieu on Saturday afternoon at the Oshiwara Electric Crematorium here in the presence of her family and a handful of members of the Hindi film fraternity. Her journey fame to beings with “Love In Simla”.
In 1964, she played her remarkable double role in the first of the suspense-thriller trilogy, “Woh Kaun Thi?”.
Commenting about the rumours that Sadhana was suffering from cancer, Shaina said,”Many speculative stories are floating around, but let me clarify it. Sadhanaji did not have cancer”.
