Veteran Bollywood actress Sadhana passes away in Mumbai
She completed 74 years of age this September.
Veteran actress Sadhana Shivdasani, popularly known as Sadhana, died at her Mumbai residence in Mumbai.
Sadhana, who is credited for introducing the fringe hairstyle in Indian film industry, passed away at a private hospital in Mumbai, sources said.
She retired from cinema after acting in Intaqam in 1969, and directed a few films including one with Bollywood icon Dimple Kapadia in 1989.
The veteran actress was suffering from a tumour a year ago and even underwent for a successful surgery for the same.
In her career, Shadhana has worked with actors like Dev Anand, Sunil Dutt, Joy Mukherjee and Raj Kapoor. The actress is survived by her foster daughter. A close family friend and BJP city spokesperson Shaina N.C. confirmed teh news to IANS saying, “Sadhana breathed her last at her home this morning”. In 1958, she had a significant role in India’s first Sindhi language film “Abaana”. She is remembered for her roles in blockbuster films like “Love in Simla”, “Hum Dono”, “Arzoo”, “Waqt“, “Woh Kaun Thi”, “Mera Saaya“, “Ek Phool Do Maali” and many more.
