Veterans Day parades and ceremonies
– As the nation prepares to honor veterans across the country, there are several events in the valley to honor local vets.
Cypress Glen Retirement Community in Greenville will have a ceremony honoring all residents who are also veterans. Families of deployed military personnel also will be given free admission.
The other honored guests are former Portland Trail Blazers announcer Bill Schonley, who served in the U.S. Marines in Guam, and Mike Chase and Amy Faust of the Mike and Amy Show on 99.5 FM, which regularly supports veterans. The zoo will be open from 9 a.m.to 4 p.m.
Palmer: There will be a Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony on Main Street in Bondsville.
Camelback will be closed between 7th Street and Central Avenue.
Everyone will be admitted free to the Oregon Historical Society on Wednesday.
A new memorial for veterans will be unveiled at St. Mary’s Cemetery on North Street in Salem at a ceremony honoring living and fallen veterans at 10 a.m.
Boston’s Veterans Day parade is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.at Boylston and Tremont Street.
The parade in Worcester begins at 11 a.m.
The 3rd annual National Veterans Day Run in Portland will take place at Mt. Tabor Park at 8:11 a.m on November 15.
