Donald Trump has refused to appear at tomorrow’s Fox News GOP debate; in a statement, the network explained, “This is rooted in one thing – Megyn Kelly, whom he has viciously attacked since August and has now spent four days demanding be removed from the debate stage”.
Mr Trump has refused to take part in what he has called an “irreversible decision”. “However, new polls show Donald Trump still dominating the Republican field despite his unorthodox campaign”.
Despite the attention, there was little sense that Trump’s move would significantly change the trajectory of the Republican contest in Iowa. Thursday’s debate, which will take place in Des Moines, is the final Republican presidential debate scheduled to take place before the Iowa caucuses on February 1. Fox News, in a statement on Tuesday, said it would not “give in to terrorisations toward any of our employees”, but left the door open to Mr Trump attending the debate.
According to New York Magazine reporter Gabriel Sherman, Fox News executives reportedly said Ailes mishandled Trumps objections to Kelly. Trump had courted Vander Plaats, but lost his endorsement to Cruz.
Early Wednesday morning, Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that the boycott had “nothing to do with Megyn Kelly”.

“These kinds of theatrics by Ted Cruz and Donald Trump are an entertaining sideshow, but they have nothing to do with defeating Hillary Clinton”, Florida Sen.
His past debate performances haven’t hurt him, and his most recent was probably his best, he said. “I’m going to have something else in Iowa, do something where we raise money for the veterans and the wounded warriors”.
“I think he [Obama] and the vice president have tried to be fair and even-handed in the process and I expect they will continue to be that way”, Sanders said.
