Vettah Director Rajesh Pillai Hospitalised
The sources close to the director informed that 41-year-old Pillai breathed his last around 11:40 am at the PVS Hospital.
On hearing the news of his death, several actors who worked in his movies rushed to the hospital. During the final sound mixing for “Vettah”, he had also contracted pneumonia and that worsened his health.
He was admitted to the hospital on February 25 and immediately put on the ventilator.
Doctors said he had been suffering from non-alcoholic liver cirrhosis for a long-time.
Incidently, Vettah, starring Kunchacko Boban and Manju Warrier, was released in theatres yesterday.
While there is no certainty yet on the eventual release plans for Traffic, one hopes that the late director gets his due soon, now that he has left for heavenly abode.
Rajesh Pillai, the man who made unforgettable movies like Traffic, Mili, Hridaythil Sookshikkan and Vettah was on Sunday given his last farewell by the film fraternity.
His body will be cremated here tomorrow. He got a break through with a film named “Traffic” in 2011 which was also remade in other South Indian languages and Hindi.
