Vicki Gardner’s first interview since being shot on live TV
WDBJ-TV cameraman Adam Ward and reporter Alison Parker were killed. He fatally shot reporters Alison Parker and Adam Ward before he shot and killed himself several hours later.
Vicki Gardner, the sole survivor of the awful WDBJ shooting just weeks ago, spoke out on Fox News tonight for the first time recounting to Greta Van Susteren what happened that tragic day. Then she just waited for death to come. “Lots and lots of gunfire”, Gardner said.
She said that Flanagan was “very silent” during the shooting and did not speak.
Mrs Gardner said her first thought was to play dead in the hope she would be spared.
In her most recent post, Gardner shared heartwarming stories of her return home, including a parade of boats decorated with “Welcome back!’ signs and balloons and banners that made her ‘feel like a princess”.
Luckily, Flanagan fled the scene and emergency services arrived within minutes. “Because I felt as though he was going to shoot me in the head”.
‘They say the world goes in front of you, and it did real fast. “But obviously there’s a goal – and by golly I will fulfill it”.
Vicki Gardner: “I’m happy to be here” after surviving shooting.
Mrs Gardner’s husband Tim said he saw the chilling attack unfold on live television, and spent 15 minutes thinking his wife had been murdered.
Last week, Gardner’s husband said in a statement that she is planning a tribute to the two journalists who lost their lives. I realized it was quiet and everybody was down, and I didn’t know where he was.
