Victor Wanyama asks to leave Southampton, say Sky sources
Victor Wanyama is reportedly ready to hand in a transfer request to leave Southampton this summer with Tottenham Hotspur thought to be leading the race to sign the Kenyan.
According to those infamous “Sky Sources” (i.e. Twitter), Southampton apparently approached the Kenyan with the offer of a new improved contract, only to be told by the combative midfielder that he wanted to move on. Alex Song is also on the list of prospective targets for Tottenham, who have made four astute signings thus far and will be looking to put in a much better challenge for a place in the top four this season. He showed yesterday [Thursday] what he likes to do, to stay, and he knows that there is no bid for the player.
When asked about the rumours of Sadio Mane joining Manchester United, boss Ronald Koeman instead non of his players will be leaving.
“We deserved more, and the points we have on the table do not reflect how well we’ve played”. They’re still ticked over the whole Toby Alderweireld thing, and I don’t think it’s a matter of Victor putting in a request and Spurs signing the paperwork.
“If they don’t change the window from September 1, we will always have these rumours”.
But the south coast club are likely to have their resolve tested in the coming 10 days after it was communicated that the central midfielder has decided to seek out new challenges.
