Victoria Beckham’s Spice Girl Carpool Karaoke Is Here. Sort Of
According to reports, Mel B is furious with Victoria Beckham after she made a decision to embrace her Spice past by singing some of their hits in an episode of on James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke.
In the segment on Corden’s U.S. talk show The Late Late Show, Beckham took on the role played by Cattrall, portraying a mannequin that comes to life, but only Corden’s character can see her. Instead of singing along to a series of songs in the auto, Posh Spice and James Corden stage a mock remake of the 1987 cult classic Mannequin.
As great as the skit is of course, it’s only ever going to rank as Queen V’s second most iconic performance behind the wheel… Apparently, the America’s Got Talent judge didn’t think it was fair of Victoria to use the Spice Girls to promote her image when she refused to participate in a reunion tour for the girl group. The Posh within is unleashed, as they belt out lyrics to the Spice Girls hit “Spice Up Your Life”. Instead of a full-length singing special that every past Carpool Karaoke star has done, fans were shown a remake of 1987 romcom classic Mannequin.
In a weird take on James’ hit celebrity guest segment, Victoria re-enacted the 1987 movie Mannequin as she played a store dummy that came to life as James fell in love with her. They decide to run off together, so they get in the auto and drive around Los Angeles. The late night host, however, is the only one who can see Beckham, whereas everyone else can see, well, only a mannequin.
After Victoria told James she was “so lonely” and wanted to “be with others like me”, her pal vowed to sacrifice his love and “get her home”. She wants to be amongst her own kind, other mannequins wearing her new Target clothing line in the window of a Target.
This is brilliant, and Victoria smiles loads, so she CAN do it!
