Victoria Justice Reveals She Suffers From A Thyroid Autoimmune Disorder
Vitamins, a special Greg Louganis-inspired health shake, meditation, and twerking for exercise.
In the November issue of Health magazine, the brunette beauty revealed that she suffers from a medical condition that affects her autoimmune system.
We often don’t think of young, lovely celebrities having to go through painful health trauma, but as we recently saw with Selena Gomez’s courageous decision to open up about her struggle with lupus, no one is immune to an invisible illness.
The disease, which attacks the thyroid, can affect metabolism and lead to an underactive thyroid gland, caused her to have acne flare-ups and issues with her weight.
And for someone who’s only five-foot-five, those changes were extreme, People added. I was, like, 115 pounds. “Then when I filmed a movie last summer, I actually went under 100 pounds”, she adds. A few of its symptoms are fatigue, a puffy face, sluggishness, hoarse voice, muscle ache and tenderness, weight fluctuations, and stiff joints. “I feel good”, she said.
Victoria Justice told Health magazine that she was “devastated” when she started breaking out because her whole life she had great skin.
“At the end of the day, I had the support of my family and friends”.
Though she still has Hashimoto’s, Victoria updated everyone that she is feeling “back to normal” now – which we’re so happy to hear.
The 22-year-old said she had to go on a “super-strict” pescatarian diet after being diagnosed, and couldn’t eat wheat, sugar or dairy for two months. The diet did help, and now, Justice said she has gotten the disease under control.
Justice said she’s still living with Hashimoto’s, but “things have leveled out” and she’s now “back to normal”.
So what exactly is Hashimoto’s disease?
A trainer puts Victoria through the gauntlet – push-ups, squats (her least favorite), crunches, lifting free weights, jumping rope. “After 10 minutes of twerking, your thighs and your butt feel it right away”, she says.
