Victoria Justice Reveals That She’s Been Struggling With a Serious Health
We often don’t think of young, lovely celebrities having to go through painful health trauma, but as we recently saw with Selena Gomez’s fearless decision to open up about her struggle with lupus, no one is immune to an invisible illness.
The disease, which can cause an underactive thyroid and can wreak havoc on the sufferer’s weight, caused serious fluctuations in the 22-year-old.
Thyroid conditions can affect metabolism and skin, among many things, and Victoria explained that she started noticing she was gaining and losing weight irregularly and her skin was breaking out in an unusual way. “I was, like, 115 pounds”, she told the magazine.
‘Then when I filmed a movie last summer, I actually went under 100 pounds. I knew that the people around me had my back.
“A few years ago, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s, which is a thyroid autoimmune disorder [that can interfere with thyroid function and affect metabolism]”, she admitted. The “Victorious” star said that she still has Hashimoto’s, but her numbers are “back to normal” and that she is now “not on medication”, Health magazine noted. Victoria also revealed that when times got tough and her confidence may have been down, her friends and family always supported her! I’m not on medication.
She continued, “I still have Hashimoto’s”. She described her health routine to the magazine – a combination of exercise, natural supplements, and meditation. It’s actually a really great workout, ‘ Victoria insisted.
“To be honest, I used to hate working out, but as I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that it gives me so much more energy, and it just makes me feel so much better.”
But it’s so much fun.
