Video of man claiming to be Kim Jong Nam’s son appears online
The Associated Press reports that an unnamed official from South Korea’s National Intelligence Service (NIS) has determined that the man in the video is Kim Han Sol. North Korea has denied any role in the murder and has refused to acknowledge the identity of the deceased, calling him Kim Chol, the name on his fake passport.
“My father has been killed a few days ago”.
Kim Han-sol was born in Pyonyang, North Korea, but the 21-year-old has spent most of his life overseas, living mainly in Macau, China, and attending school in France and Bosnia. Also, the particulars in the passport have been blocked out.
A man claiming to be the son of murdered Kim Jong-Nam has said in a video posted online that he is lying low with his mother and sister after the killing.
Appearing alone in an unknown location, the man holds up his passport before revealing he is with his mother and sister. “We are very grateful to.”, he says before the audio cuts out.
The clip has drawn over 680,000 views as of last night.
Cheollima Civil Defense said in a statement that it was asked to help Kim Han-sol and his family following the assassination and that they were relocated to a safe place.
Responding to questions from reporters outside parliament on Wednesday, Prime Minister Najib Razak ruled out severing ties with North Korea.
