Video showing toddler allegedly smoking marijuana under investigation, police say
Chicago police are investigating a disturbing video that seems to show a toddler smoking pot as an adult off camera coaches him to do it.
The child in the video appears to be clearly dazed by the effects of the marijuana. At the time he captured it, the video had received more than 500 likes on Facebook and 1,200 comments.
Community activist Andrew Holmes notified the media Thursday after spotting the video.
“I’m very anxious, because there ain’t no telling how long this child has been smoking, and this child may have behavioral problems later on in life”, he said.
Detectives from the Special Victims Unit at Area South Headquarters are actively pursuing the people in the video and if found, the adult may face child endangerment charges.
In the video, the toddler, who is wearing a diaper, is sitting on a chair smoking what appears to be a joint.
The cell phone footage showed the young boy taking a hit from the top of the device while his 24-year-old mother, Rachelle Braaten laughed uproariously with a group of adults.
