Video shows Pennsylvania high school coach headbutting referee
Devine was ejected, according to WPVI, the local ABC station.
City of Basketball Love uploaded footage of the act to YouTube.
Watch below, as Neshaminy High School (Pennsylvania) basketball coach Jerry Devine appears to head-butt an official in the final moments of a game against Pennsbury High School on Tuesday evening. CoBL reports that the incident occurred with less than 30 seconds left, after a Neshaminy player was called for a charge. After coming on the court to protest, Devine can be seen either headbutting or chest-bumping an official.
The 10th-year head coach, who is also a history and algebra teacher, according to the school’s website, is most well-known for coaching Villanova senior Ryan Arcidiacono during his four yours at the northeast Philadelphia suburban school.
The incident was caught on video by a spectator as has made its way onto YouTube.
The story cites three sources that say Jerry Devine was removed from the gym after the incident.
The livestream shows the coach of one of the teams react to an offensive foul call by walking towards one of the referees.
