Vigil Planned For Ohio Toddler Found Decomposing In Crib
The report said Warfel put garbage in the girl’s room to mask the smell and had moved into a motel with a 7-year-old daughter. An autopsy was planned to determine how she died. A cable television technician discovered the body of 21-month-old Ember Warfel on Wednesday after being allowed inside the apartment to upgrade the service. The girl’s death remains under investigation. Since Warfel might face further charges and because he is a flight risk, Magistrate Linda Leggett set his bond for $1 million. Medina Police Chief Patrick Berarducci said the woman lives somewhere in New York. There are numerous references in the divorce decree to her substance abuse problems.
“The gentleman that was here would never hook up with them”.
In March 2013, Eric Warfel’s 5-month-old daughter Erin Delynn Warfel had died of “sudden unexplained infant death”.
Warfel said he did not call police or medical professionals after the child died and that he attempted to hide the baby’s death from her family, according to the statement read by Leggett.
Warfel was granted sole custody of the toddler during a divorce previous year. She’s now living with her paternal grandparents in their Medina home. Warfel and Galdamez were working with the department of job and family services to get their oldest daughter back.
Medina police said that they will take another look at the case.
Both parents left Cleveland after the divorce.
The Cleveland Division of Police told Fox 8 News it would reopen the case into Erin Warfel’s death if requested by Medina or Cuyahoga County authorities.
Galdamez did not seek any parenting rights beyond limited visitations.
Warfel admitted to authorities that he threw trash into the child’s bedroom to disguise the smell of her decomposing body.
Warfel is now also being investigated for possible drug abuse.
