Vikings coach: Adrian Peterson’s back will not keep him out
In two days they’re embarking on the National Football League equivalent of a journey to the Arctic Circle.
So how does that affect the status of Sunday’s Seattle Seahawks-Minnesota Vikings wild-card playoff game at TCF Bank Stadium?
“They need to be loud and make sure they have some tailgating before they come out so they stay warm”, Zimmer said. “I’ll be on a beach in Tahiti somewhere”. A light 5 m.p.h breeze out of the northwest with game time temperatures at about 0 degrees Fahrenheit. The Seahawks defeated the New York Jets 13-3. If they can neutralize Peterson and put pressure on Teddy Bridgewater to carry the team, it could be another blowout win for Seattle.
Should the temperature hit below zero when this game kicks off, it will be among the six coldest playoff games in National Football League history.
Sunday’s game is back at the scene of the carnage, and there are many who expect Sunday’s contest to play out much like the Week 13 meeting did. “You’ll forget about the weather soon enough”.
“You have to be clued in to where he’s moving and where he wants to escape”. And while it won’t get that cold Sunday, the inevitable Seahawks victory might make it feel that way for Vikings fans. Eventually the Seahawks are going to have to play one of those elite teams.
In its final eight games of the regular season, Seattle’s offense averaged 32 points and 404 yards per game, a dramatic improvement over the 21 points and 353 total yards per game the Seahawks averaged during the first eight games of the 2015 regular season.
Asked about the perception that Bridgewater struggles with the deep ball, Zimmer said, “I don’t think that’s accurate”. “Being a defensive guy, it’s not quite as bad. It’s just something that we’ll deal with”. But that’s on both teams.
“There’s not any misconception about what happened in that game for us at all”, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said. “I think it’s just a million miles off. I think Darrell and (offensive-line coach and run-game coordinator) Tom (Cable) have done an incredible job again”. “When we play with passion and energy, we don’t miss tackles”. “We’re going to play ball the way we normally do”. Part of the problem was the kind of plays that were being called.
Who’s Hot: The Seahawks are seriously scary right now.
“I’ve only played against him once – that was in 2012”, Smith said. The team is encouraging all fans to also bring their own. Look into the details and you’ve got Russell Wilson playing the best ball he’s ever played, Lynch returning to a backfield with a rejuvenated Christine Michael, Doug Baldwin and Tyler Lockett being nearly uncoverable, and a defense that’s beginning to resemble the Seahawks of old. Anything to help take the sting out of the cold expected Sunday.
