Vikings defeat Steelers in HOF Game

Vikings’ win over Steelers was rather easy and though the low scoring in the Hall of Fame game disappointed numerous football fans, it was the best that they could have hoped for at this stage.

Backup quarterback Mike Kafka threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to rookie tight end MyCole Pruitt and running back Joe Banyard added a 1-yard score in the third quarter for Minnesota.

The NFL Hall of Fame Game 2015 live stream and TV coverage will take place on Sunday night from Canton, Ohio. The downside is it is the first preseason game for two teams that only have a couple weeks of camp under their belt.

Ryan Shazier is feeling good: “The game has slowed down a lot more for me, and I feel better than ever out there”. Most of the playing time for both sides was reserved for players who the coaching staffs want to get an extended look at, most of whom will not be on the opening-day rosters when the new season begins the week of September 7. Coach Mike Tomlin sat out Bell, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, wide receivers Antonio Brown and Wheaton, tight end Heath Miller, center Maurkice Pouncey and guard Ramon Foster on offense. For now, it’s a Minnesota Vikings victory…and, whether it counts or not, it’s always nice to say that.

Peterson has not played since Week 1 of the 2014 season and he likely will not take the field Sunday night. According to footballoutsiders.com, the Vikings averaged just 5.4 yards per play action attempt, which ranked them 30 in the NFL last season, with teams not being concerned with Matt Asiata and Jerick McKinnon. “I don’t think it will be too damning”. Could more future Hall of Fame stars be participants in this preseason matchup featuring the Steelers and Vikings? Finally Steelers kicker Shaun Suisham hit a 36-yard field goal with 8:23 left in the second quarter for the first points of the (unofficial) season.

The only thing Diggs didn’t do on the play was score, getting ruled down just shy of the goal line.

NOTES: Vikings first-round pick, CB Trae Waynes, had three tackles and was called for a holding penalty that was declined….

I laughed when people said James would be the Steelers replacement for Heath Miller.
