Vikings give coach Mike Zimmer a contract extension

That brings the roster to 89 players, meaning they still can add one for camp.

The Vikings did not make Zimmer’s previous contract details available, either, but Zimmer said in a press conference following the team’s announcement of his extension that Minnesota approached him about a new deal before his previous contract was set to expire.

Before last season, Sullivan had started every game since 2011, with Joe Berger taking over at center. Zimmer even said he saw no rush to address it, entering his third season on the job. “We’ve got to create more turnovers”.

Prior to Zimmer taking over as head coach, the Vikings were 5-10-1, and were dead last in the division.

Though as the defense takes shape, Zimmer has turned his attention to where it’s needed most – the offense. However, Sullivan was back at center with the No. 1 offensive line Friday.
