Vikings’ Jarius Wright: Fully practices despite hand injury
The health of the wide receiver group was a big concern heading into this week.
Fantasy impact: Aside from Wallace, the Vikings don’t really have a deep threat down the field in the passing game. Andrew Sendejo, who has been dealing with a knee injury, was also limited in Wednesday’s practice.
If Wallace is unable to go this weekend, at least they will have back Jarius Wright, who was listed as a full participant in Wednesday’s practice after missing most of the last game with a hand injury. If they don’t, then who sits down?
Wright played just one snap on offense in Minnesota’s Week 4 loss to Denver. “As a player, it’s a good problem to have because it makes you grind”, receiver Mike Wallace said.
Stefon Diggs caught six passes for 87 yards in his National Football League debut in Denver. Ideally, the Vikings would have both of those guys available. With Johnson on track to return, the Vikings could be faced with a hard decision as the reserve receivers, like Cordarrelle Patterson and Adam Thielen, are core special teams contributors.
Overall, Zimmer said the Vikings are getting healthy.
Coach Mike Zimmer won’t have to declare which wide receivers will be active until 90 minutes before Sunday’s kickoff.
Norv Turner isn’t going to reveal the Vikings’ plan at receiver.
“You can’t ask to be in a better position”, Turner said. “When you have guys get hurt, and the guys that go in for them catch five or six balls”. The only player on the 53-man roster who did not practice Thursday was defensive end Justin Trattou, out since suffering a foot injury September 27 against San Diego.
