Vikings kicker Blair Walsh visits supportive first-graders
On Thursday, Walsh met with the local elementary school students who did their best to lift the kicker’s spirits.
Blair Walsh is the Viking who missed the last second field goal, allowing the Seahawks to win by just one point.
“For Blair Walsh. Keep on trying”.
Also, to parents of this child, know that I am willing to pay American money for your son to write me weekly supportive letters. ‘Everyone makes mistakes sometimes.
“One time I had the same problem as you and we lost the divisional playoffs”, a student wrote.
After missing an easy field goal which would have sent them to the next round of the National Football League playoffs, Minnesota Vikings kicker Blair Walsh is a bold man showing his face in public.
After receiving these letters, Walsh chose to do one of the coolest things: he went and visited the first graders that wrote him letter.
Walsh was greeted by a large yellow sign on which a hand-written message was scrawled “Thanks for Coming!”
Just two months ago, Crosby badly missed a game-winner against the Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field. They were then assigned a project: create a sympathy/empathy card for Blair Walsh.
“I thought it was a really good kick”, he said.
The holder gets the snap, and Walsh sees laces in front of him-technically and psychologically, it’s an “uh-oh” moment for the holder and his kicker. They don’t know anything about me.
Just wish I round up a bunch of the trolls out there and send them to Judie Offerdahl’s class. That’s “class” in more than one sense of the word. “There have been so many more kind responses that I’ve received than negative”.
The final play on Sunday has been a tough pill for Minnesota Vikings fans to swallow. A lot of them were very pretty and creative…. I’m not anxious about the negative ones. I think it’s time everyone gives this guy a break.
