Vikings left tackle Kalil has surgery for torn labrum in hip
The report says that while “the top of the organization” remains supportive and would like to see Peterson return next season under a new contract, the running back has alienated a few teammates, leaving his future in Minnesota up in the air.
Peterson (knee) was placed on injured reserve Friday. The new NFL rule allows teams to not have designate which player will return from injured reserve up front, which could allow Peterson to return by November 20, although his recovery is expected to take longer than that, according to NFL Network’s Conor Orr. Peterson could technically return from injured reserve in Week 12, but it’s highly unlikely he’ll be ready by that time.
The Vikings have now lost their star running back, franchise quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, and their starting left tackle Matt Kalil.
Peterson and DT Sharrif Floyd had their right knee surgeries on Thursday, with Floyd’s being arthroscopic surgery, and left tackle Matt Kalil had surgery on Friday morning to fix a torn labrum in his right hip.
The Vikings have sent three starters into surgery this week. The Vikings called Kalil’s procedure successful, but he’ll miss the first game of his career Sunday when the Vikings (2-0) visit Carolina.
