Vikings QB Bridgewater goes down in practice with injury
Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater went down with an injury during practice. Although there has been no confirmation, this appears to be an injury that will keep Bridgewater out for the year. The quarterback is now undergoing an MRI at the Hennepin County Medical Center.
The 90 minute practice session was cancelled after 25 minutes, with an ambulance arriving shortly after, according to Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press.
“Teddy’s such a great kid”, Zimmer said. He helped lead the Vikings to the NFC North championship last season as more of a game manager, but Zimmer and offensive coordinator Norv Turner have said that they expected him to be much more of a playmaker in 2016.
The team will practice as scheduled on Wednesday.
Zimmer said he talked to Bill Parcells, and his dad in spirit, saying, “We’ll find out a way to do it. We’re going to go out and fight like we always do”. However, with several quarterbacks still on the free-agent market and a few borderline starters on the trade market, the Vikings may look into strengthening the position of Bridgewater does indeed miss significant time.
The Vikings host Los Angeles Rams in their final preseason game Thursday night.
“Everybody can county us out, but I think that would be the wrong thing to do”, Zimmer said.
