Vikings RB Peterson blames shrimp, not dip, for illness
Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, who was questionable because of an illness Saturday night, said shrimp, not tobacco, played a part in him getting sick. But his best play came when he chased down Adrian Peterson at the 3-yard line on a 75-yard run to prevent a touchdown. The Lions two muffed punts, led to a touchdown and a field goal for the Bears and ultimately put them back in the game.
The Minnesota Vikings have started off the season 3-2 and won after their bye week for the first time since 2009, when Brett Favre led the Vikings to 27-10 victory over the Detroit Lions at the Metrodome. The publication said that while he had the said injury, Peterson had been limited in the team practice on October 22 and 23. In the first quarter, it rolled up 160 yards of offense and took a 14-3 lead. Thats our makeup, thats the team we are but weve got to play that 60 minutes..
Caldwell, on if the team gave up Sunday: “I don’t think it was giving in, we just didn’t do what we were supposed to do”. We’ll do a few things very, very well for an extended period of time.
“A guy that big with that kind of experience against a team that runs the ball a lot, there’s no question he could help us”, Detroit coach Jim Caldwell said.
“Two of our power backs, two of our brutes that we usually work in those short-yardage (situations)”, Caldwell said in defense of the calls.
But as was the case in week one against the Chargers, early success didn’t last as the defense time and time again couldn’t come up with big stops to get off the field.
Quin said hes not sure what happened after the first quarter. Blair Walsh made five field goals after going 0-for-3 in Detroit last season. I say they can cover their spread, it’s small, and that’s good because they surely aren’t going to win by much. They looked poised to score a touchdown before the 2-minute warning, and with two timeouts remaining, they had a decent chance to get the ball back. He has posted six more receptions on nine targets for 108 yards and his first touchdown in the Vikings’ 28-19 win at Detroit.
Trailing 28-17 late in the fourth quarter, the Lions drove down inside the Minnesota five yard line but the Vikings denied them the endzone, holding the Lions on a goal line stand. “So we just have to collectively get it together where we can play more consistently, which we haven’t”. Its just tough, and I definitely dont feel good to be 1-6, but we have to keep playing..
One of the problems is the Vikings’ struggling offensive line. The Lions had 77 net rushing yards. Rookie defensive tackle Gabe Wright sat out his first game due to Ngatas return. “The Vikings got a good one”.
Stafford finished 18 of 26 for 256 yards, and needed X-rays on his left hand. “We had a great two-minute type drive and got down and just couldn’t punch it in”.
