Vinod Khanna – Feroz Khan: Friend forever died on same date, same disease
Vinod Khanna was suffering from cancer for quite some time and passed away on Thursday morning at Mumbai’s HN Reliance Hospital at 11:20 am due to advanced bladder carcinoma, after he was hospitalized on March 31.
Vinod was a sitting Bharatiya Janata Party member of the Lok Sabha from the Gurdaspur constituency in Punjab.
Vinod Khanna, however chose to bid adieu to the arc lights at the peak of his career. The couple were had two sons – Rahul Khanna and Akshaye Khanna.
“His spiritual foray coincided with the time the actor and his then wife Geetanjali developed differences”. But in the early 1980s, when Khanna had become a huge Bollywood star, he made a decision to denounce his career, showbiz-all the limelight and surrender his soul to his guru. He debuted in Sunil Dutt’s 1968 film Man Ka Meet as a villain. Gulzar’s “Mere Apne” in 1971 first noticed his potential towards acting. A great many films followed including hits such as “Elaan” and “Mera Gaon Mera Desh”. He and Amitabh Bachchan went on to become a hit pair and starred in many hits together.
Iconic Indian actor and politician Vinod Khanna (pic) died Thursday in Mumbai. He returned to cinema in the late eighties, and courted success again with films such as “Insaaf, ‘ “Satyameva Jayate” and ‘Dayavan.’ He was seen in the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer ‘Dilwale” in 2015.
The death of Vinod Khanna has sent shock waves across the film industries and as a mark of respect, the special premier of Baahubali:The Conclusion has been cancelled.
Many Bollywood celebrities like Shraddha Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, Shatrughan Sinha and Hema Malini mourned Vinod’s death.
Khanna and Bachchan, despite the competition, starred in blockbusters such as “Amar Akbar Anthony”, “Parvarish”, “Reshma Aur Shera”, “Muqaddar Ka Sikandar”, “Zameer”, “Hera Pheri” and “Khoon Paseena”. Rishi continued to work with him in “Chandni” also. The family members of the star were seen taking Vinod’s body home from the hospital.
