Virat Kohli opens up on his aggressive brand of cricket
We haven’t had too much time off this time but I always try and go out in Australia.
Virat Kohli also spoke about how Sachin Tendulkar helped him become a better cricketer. “I love the country, the vibe and the people”, Kohli, who was awarded the Player of the T20 series said during a chat with Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell on the latest edition of Maxi’s Blog. “I think it comes a bit from the family plus growing up in Delhi”.
He informs that he started playing Cricket because of legend Sachin Tendulkar, who inspired him to do things that he did while playing for the country.
“He really helped me with the little things that I could improve in my game”, Kohli said. “You don’t have people of his stature come up and talk to youngsters like that”, he pointed out.
Here is Kohli’s Australian sojourn – from taking off for the tour, getting back home and everything in between – in a series of pictures shared by the man himself. “I always wanted to be somebody who the opposition wanted to get out first”, he said.
“It has been pretty hectic this time around, with playing and travelling, and playing in different time zones. People are wonderful here and I love to deliver in front of them”. Kohli’s tally of 199 runs in this series can also be the second-highest by a batsman in bilateral T20I series behind Hamilton Masakadza’s 222 runs in the four-match series against Bangladesh earlier this year. I never wanted to be just another player in the XI. “In the T20s we have experienced players compared to Australia and we have capitalised more on that”, he said.
“IPL is a great platform for young players to play with global stars”. If I would not have played with Mitchell Starc, I would not have known how good a human being he is. “IPL helps one lift the boundaries with other foreign players and mix with others as well”, Kohli concluded.
