Virat Kohli’s stunning ODI form puts Bradman in the shade
The Men in Blue have a 3-0 lead in the six-match series and will become the first visiting side to beat the Proteas in ODIs at home since 2013, if they achieve this milestone.
India will look to wrap up the One Day International (ODI) Series against as they take the field at Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg on February 9, 2018. He knows how hard it has been for the Indian side. The Indian team now has a 3-0 lead in the 6-match series.
“Look at the moment, we are all under pressure”. He was in fairly decent form for South Africa in the Tests and an unfortunate finger injury sustained at the Wanderers, kept him out of the opening three games. “To us, we are on the brink of it, if we do it, it will be really huge”. “The way they lost the first two Test matches and then the way they won the third Test match on a shifty, dodgy kind of pitch and then winning the (first three) ODIs so convincingly”. The return of de Villiers might just be the life raft that they need to regather themselves into a batting unit. There is no reason to believe that they can not.
Just when it appeared that the duo will bat the hosts out of the game, off-spinner Raisibe Ntozakhe struck with the crucial wicket of Smriti, who registered her third ODI century. “That’s why India dominated”.
But that is all in the past, and as Chris Morris said, “We’ve got that record but records speak for nothing, simple as that”. The batsmen were tied to the crease as both the #spinners scalped eight wickets between them. The oriental mystery has been at its magical best.
Shikhar Dhawan added 76 runs with his willow. It is only Rohit Sharma who seems to be out of touch. People arrive for the occasion and they turn it on for the occasion. It will be the sixth Pink Day ODI today.
The tourists have only to win one of the remaining three ODIs to claim the away series. He admitted Kohli has been the bugbear for them but he was lucky.
Kohli said yesterday’s hundred was special in the sense that he had to continuously change his game through the innings.
He added: “The tour didn’t start of too well but I knew I had to come in and get stuck in for us to compete in every game – it feels very good that it’s coming off in winning causes”.
“I’m sure AB will have a few pointers for the guys on how to handle spin and how to play spin, maybe a few different attacking options”.
Tendulkar was no doubt India’s biggest match-winner for a quarter of a century and we all appreciate his talent, but you cannot dispute stats and hard data and it’s not Kohli’s fault that he did not face Wasim Akram, Courtney Walsh, Curtly Ambrose, Waqar Younis, Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath, Shaun Pollock, Allan Donald and you can only play what’s in front of you.
The match played before a capacity crowd at Cape Town again resulted in an SA defeat.
That is the positive way of looking at the situation, anyway.
