Visitor who drowned off Kauai identified as ABC News doctor
At ABC News, she reviewed studies and researched stories for the Medical Unit, as well as offering meditation sessions for the staff, Goldston said.
The incident occurred Monday before 4 p.m., with witnesses calling police to say they saw a woman being pulled out by the tide, the Kauai police said in an official news release.
According to reports, lifeguards were sent to rescue Zimmerman from the sea with the aid of jet skis and brought her back to land.
In her online tribute to her daughter, Jordan Zimmerman described her as a globe-trotting humanitarian who helped refugees in Africa, volunteered in a low-income hospital in India, helped build classrooms in Uganda and worked with indigenous tribes in Peru. It is believed that Zimmerman was swept out to sea while crossing a river at the north shore when she lost her footing and was swept away.
Jordan Zimmerman, Zimmerman’s mother wrote a tear jerking message on Facebook about her daughter. Not only was she a member of ABC’s “Medical Unit”, she also led mediations for the ABC staff and regularly contributed to the Huffington Post, Yahoo News and PBS.
“In her short 31 years Jamie traveled the globe representing America as a caring mindfulness ambassador”, Jordan Zimmerman wrote. Unfortunately, the police confirmed that Jamie died later at a nearby hospital. Jamie served as a United Nations Global Health representative in Haiti and she even taught meditation at the U.S. Capitol. She also planned to collaborate with Deepak Chopra on a new project.
Jamie’s mother writes in the Facebook post that her daughter was taking on a lot of things because she had lofty goals. Always know that I will miss you every second, minute, and hour of every day.
Her mother hopes that Jamie’s life will inspire people to make the world a better place. “Until we meet again, my precious one!” “It can be as little as sharing a smile or a kind word or as big as your imagination and effort will allow”. This is Jamie’s legacy.
