Vivo to be IPL title sponsor for next two editions
After losing the case in the Bombay High Court, BCCI went to the Supreme Court, which in July appointed the Justice RM Lodha panel after which with CSK and RR teams were banned from the tournament for two years with Meiyappan and Kundra being banned for life. In another important development, BCCI president can no longer veto a team or a captain selected/appointed by selectors.
Although the company did not come on record to specify the reasons but it was reported that PepsiCo felt the spot- fixing scandal had brought the IPL in disrepute.
“The Justice Lodha committee interim report will be implemented fully”. It also decided not to terminate Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals that are on a two-year suspension.
The Indian Cricket board will invite bids for two new teams for the Indian Premier League (IPL) to replace the suspended Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings for the next two editions, it said on Sunday. “Vivo is to give the Bank Guarantee in next ten days”, the BCCI said in a statement announcing decisions taken at its all-powerful working committee meeting.
The BCCI’s annual general meeting will take place on November 9.
The decision was made during the BCCI Working Committee meeting in Mumbai. “The Board has appointed M/S Deloitte for ‘Project Transformation”, the BCCI stated. “The BCCI rules regarding Conflict of Interest and the amendments to the Rules and Regulations of the Board are being proposed for the consideration at the AGM”, it added.
· Revival of the National Cricket Academy as the centre of excellence is the top most priority of the BCCI. It also chose to appoint PricewaterhouseCoopers to look into how the funds distributed by the board to its member state associations were being utilised.
