Vladimir Putin gifts Modi Gandhi diary notes, Bengal sword
Russian Federation will supply India with 10 million tons of oil annually in the next 10 years, President Vladimir Putin said after meeting Indian PM Narendra Modi in Moscow.
“The inter-governmental agreement on manufacture of Kamov 226 helicopter in India is the first project for a major defence platform under the Make in India mission”.
Welcoming Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s surprise visit to Lahore on Friday, former Pakistani speedster Shoaib Akhtar said that it was a great news for the relationship between the two countries.
On his part, President Putin said that high technology, innovation, energy, aircraft building, pharmaceuticals and diamonds are promising areas for India-Russian cooperation.
Indian PM Modi’s visit officially kicked off Thursday afternoon with the premier’s one-on-one talks with Putin, and a meeting with Russian business leaders.
Mr. Putin hosted Mr. Modi for a tete-e-tete at the Kremlin yesterday evening, when he presented to him a page from the diary of Mahatma Gandhi.
The agreements were signed after the delegation level talks between the two countries.
The two leaders will also oversee the signing of agreements by Russia’s state nuclear corporation Rosatom and railway monopoly Russian Railways, Peskov added without providing further details.
At the summit, Modi and Putin pushed for early conclusion of a cultural exchange programme from 2016-2018 and made a decision to intensify cultural cooperation between academic and research organizations of the two countries. The meeting is expected to result in the signing of a number of documents aimed at increasing trade and economic cooperation between the sides.
They could announce also the location of a new Russian nuclear plant in south India’s Andhra Pradesh, an extension of the Russian nuclear plant under construction in Kudankulam where one reactor is already in operation.
Modi concluded his speech by saying that his visit to Russian Federation was short but was a fruitful one and thanked the country’s citizen and President Vladimir Putin for the warm welcome extended to him.
“We are working towards guaranteeing most ideal framework in India… on account of endeavors of our administration the economy has seen supported development”, he said, including “We are resolved to guarantee a steady and straightforward tax assessment administration”.
A report last week said that India’s top acquisition body had cleared the purchase of Russia’s most advanced S-400 air defence systems.
He recalled that 30 years back when India, a victim of terrorism, pressed the worldwide community to act against the scourge, the world was not convinced.
The 90 minute- long interaction, where finance minister Arun Jaitley was conspicuous by his absence, also saw Prime Minister calling upon the attendees to spread awareness about the disruptive tactics of opposition as well as to come up with innovative ideas for the forthcoming budget.
