Vladimir Putin Praises Donald Trump
Donald Trump doubled down Friday on his love for Russian President Vladimir Putin, and said there’s “a lot of truth” to earlier comments he made about the USA killing people like Russia.
“Well, I mean, it’s also a person who kills journalists, political opponents, and invades countries”, Joe Scarborough countered.
“I suppose [Putin] sympathises with Trump without knowing him well in person but he is following him closely, what he does and says, just because he is not a kind of usual Western politician”, Alexander Baunov, an analyst at the Moscow Carnegie Center, told the Associated Press news agency. “Obviously, that would be a concern, would it not?” countered co-host Joe Scarborough.
Trump has insisted on the campaign trail that he’d get along with Putin better than Obama does, and the Russian leader said he welcomed the embrace.
But Trump, the 2016 Republican presidential front-runner, is bucking his party yet again – choosing to bear hug the Russian strongman rather than vilify him. There’s a lot of stuff going on in the world right now, Joe. “A lot of killing going on”. And that’s the way it is. Trump eventually said he “absolutely” condemns Putin’s alleged killing of journalists and political dissidents.
President Vladimir Putin has said Russia’s unwavering position on the crisis in Syria, where it has steadfastly resisted calls for Bashar al-Assad’s ouster, has facilitated its negotiations with both Washington and Damascus on the issue.
When I first saw tweets pop up on this early this morning, I hoped Trump was being misquoted. I think that he is a strong leader.
The surprise leader of the Republican presidential race, Trump has only gained in popularity since making abrasive anti-Muslim comments in the wake of the California shooting this month.
Putin finally responded on December 17. “I think other countries have to get involved with that, Joe”, he said.
When Scarborough suggests that this isn’t much different than Obama’s “leading from behind”, Trump doesn’t offer much in rebuttal. He’s a powerful leader … “But I think they’re done by American companies”.
Ironically, his biggest well-wisher could turn out to be the leader of the country considered as America’s biggest rival in the world stage-President Vladimir Putin of Russian Federation. In the past 24 hours, Bush has attacked Trump 12 times on Twitter.
What’s more, Putin’s poll numbers among Americans are bad. Even New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie saying he would shoot down Russian planes over Syria if the USA and allies imposed a no-fly zone, most have been silent into Trump’s embrace of the Russian leader.
