Vodafone India launches 4G services in Mumbai
The services will be launched in a phased manner across the city, beginning with South Mumbai, where Vodafone’s premium clients are based. For this, the users need to send an SMS 4GCHECK to 199 and request for a 4G SIM by calling the call centre or sending an SMS 4GSIM to 199 , if their smartphone has 4G access.
Sood said that the 4G service in Mumbai – where Vodafone is serving nine million customers – is built on a strong fibre backhaul of 100G and supported by its superfast 3G services on a new and modern network.
The present launch is across selected Western suburbs and South Mumbai, and this follows the company’s launch of 4G services in Kerala, Mysuru, Kolkata and Delhi & National Capital Region. Users can exchange SIM cards in only select outlets, however, new customers can buy a 4G SIM in all outlets.
The company – which is the second largest telecom operator in India in terms of subscribers – said the 4G data packs will be available across price ranges, starting from Rs. 11 for 35MB of data, up to Rs. 2,499 for 20GB.
What’s the 4G rollout plan in Mumbai? . Initial response from customers who have experienced 4G services in Kerala, Karnataka, Kolkata, Delhi and NCR has been positive and encouraging.
The telecom operator added that 4G users will get 4G worldwide roaming access in the UK, Romania, Spain, and the Netherlands. Vodafone’s global expertise and experience of launching 4G across 19 countries gives us a better understanding of this technology and need of the 4G customer. It launched its 4G services exclusively for its employees in December 2015 on trial basis. These five markets fetch half of Vodafone’s India data revenue.
Vodafone’s Mumbai customers have a bonanza of special benefits to enjoy the 4G experience seamlessly. Users can grab the 4G SIM cards from one of the 56 Vodafone stores across the city. This includes more than a hundred Live TV channels and access to HOOQ – the video-on-demand service with over 35,000 hours of movies and TV series.
