Volkswagen California pricing confirmed
Pricing for the new Volkswagen California has been revealed ahead of the camper van going on sale in the UK on 3 August.
It was back in April when we offered details on the Volkswagen Transporter T6 price and its bookings for those of you in Europe.
The facelifted Volkswagen Sharan is coming with two TSI petrol units and with three TDI diesel burners, the 1.4 liter TSI With its 148 HP and the 2.0 liter TSI producing 217 HP, 20 HP more than before. There’s also a manual pop-up roof, fold-out table and chairs stored in the sliding rear door and tailgate and an integrated awning.
Beach models can be purchased with the 2.0-litre 102 PS TDI engine with a five-speed manual gearbox, and a 2.0-litre TDI 150 PS with either a six-speed manual or seven-speed DSG transmission. Customers can choose from two engines with either 150 or 204 PS and six-speed manual or seven-speed DSG gearboxes.
The California Ocean replaces the SE model from the previous generation, with prices starting from £47,840 (RRP OTR inc VAT).
An electro-hydraulic pop-up roof with lighting, and a kitchenette with two rings, a fridge and sink are included in Ocean variants.
Volkswagen have upgraded safety and driver assistance, with features including a Driver Alert System, Brake Assist and Automatic Post-Collision Braking System as standard in both models. The California can also be specified with safety options such as adaptive cruise control and city emergency braking. Also included is a “premium” dashboard (optional for the Beach trim) which features a wide centre console and VW’s latest infotainment system. To top it off, Volkswagen have updated cupholders, fabric, leathers and plastics to optimise the driving experience. The first new California models are expected on UK roads towards the end of 2015. The California remains a unique offering by being the only factory-built camper van on the market. Volkswagen says that at the time of its launch, the Ocean and the Beach special editions will be offered, finished in the new Hudson Bay Blue Metallic (Ocean) and Crimson Red (Beach).
