Volvo facelifts V40 hatchback
On the outside, the facelifted Volvo V40 and the V40 Cross Country get a new grille mesh with the Volvo iron mark.
Only, it’s not that new: it won’t take the keenest of eyes or most substantial of anoraks to spot this is a visual update as opposed to a new model.
The exterior update includes the addition of five colours including the new Amazon Blue and Denim Blue, as well as three colours already used by other models: Bursting Blue, Mussel Blue and Luminous Sand.
The interior receives new aluminum trim bits and an available City Weave upholstery. Additionally, prospective buyers will also be offered the option of interior panel trims in milled, black grid or stealth aluminum.
Additionally, a total of eight new wheel options are available across the V40, R-Design and V40 Cross Country models. The update is purely cosmetic and it seems Volvo has saved all the major mechanical upgrades for the next gen model which would use a new compact modular platform.
Revealing the auto, Bjorn Annwall, Senior Vice President, Sales, Marketing and Customer Service at Volvo vehicle Group said, “The V40 is the best-selling Volvo model in Europe and the second-most popular Volvo model globally, making it a very important auto for the company”.
Elsewhere, the accent trim colours in the door inserts can now be had with contrasting stitching, plus a black headliner.
Continuing its innovative approach to powertrain engineering, Volvo has reduced Carbon dioxide emissions on its popular D2 manual powertrain to just 89 g/km with the full tyre program.
Volvo is continuing its design revival with its V40 hatchback, which has been given a refresh for 2016 inside and out. The cars feature Volvo’s new design language and will make their public debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.
In keeping with the new XC90, the facelifted V40 comes with some of the latest in-car technology.
