Vontaze Burfict Fined $50K For Hit On Maxx Williams
The suspension was imposed by NFL Vice President of Football Operations MERTON HANKS, who ruled that Burfict’s action placed his opponent at unnecessary risk of injury and should have been avoided. He and his teammates were angered that Wallace wasn’t suspended like Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr. was for his helmet-to-helmet hit on the Panthers’ Josh Norman that same weekend.
The Broncos (12-4) promised Wallace would pay the price if they got another shot at the Steelers (11-6).
On Monday, Foster claimed multiple Cincinnati Bengals players spit on Steelers players during the Steelers 18-16 victory over the Bengals on Saturday night.
Burfict leads the league with 14 unnecessary roughness penalties since 2012 and has been fined for incidents in each of the last three seasons. “That’s the first step, to realize ‘I’m wrong.’ When you play linebacker and (cornerback), you’re at the tip of the spear in the National Football League now (in terms of being judged for hits)”.
Jim Wexell, Scout’s Publisher of Steel City Insider, provided us with some Mike Tomlin quotes regarding the health of these three players. “But you know and I know that… he gonna be cleared, I promise you, 24 hours before the game”. It was Burfict who ended Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell’s season in Week 8 after a low hit to his knee. Tomlin confirmed Tuesday that Roethlisberger is day-to-day with torn ligaments in his shoulder, while Brown remains in the concussion protocol.
“There’s times when he’s out of control, and there’s times he’s out of control, but he’s calculated with it”, Harrison said. “Everything Vontaze (does), everyone thinks is dirty”. It’s a changing game, and unfortunately we had a guy (Shawn Williams) draw a penalty that was likely not a penalty in the game.
“They said I made contact with the ref”, Jones said on “The Dan Patrick Show”. “So we’ll really just kind of see how it goes (Wednesday)”.
Jones said Monday that coaches shouldn’t be on the field. “It brings the best out of me”.
