Vyapam scam accused seek permission to commit suicide from President!
Fifteen days ago, five medical students in Gwalior, accused in Vyapam scam but later cleared by a state-level probe, had also written to the President to allow them to commit suicide.
As many as 70 medical students and junior doctors now languishing in Gwalior jail for their alleged involvement in Vyapam scam have told the President Pranab Mukherjee either he let them out on bail or allow them to commit Suicide.
They all signed the petition during court hearings. This delay has put our future in the dark. “Although we are in prison for several months, our cases are still under trial”.
The accused even said that they are victims of judicial disparity and they continue to face psychological and social poblems.
The letter to the president says the people were taken into custody and have been denied bail without assigning any reason.
The letter is going to add to the problems of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who is already facing heat over the Vyapam scam.
Meanwhile, the accused, who were incarcerated in Bhopal and Jabalpur Central Jail, under same sections, have been granted bail from both sessions and high court.
The jail authorities, however, feigned ignorance about the letter.
The letter was criticised by the whistle blower in the Vyapam case and the Congress party, which is in the opposition in Madhya Pradesh.
Their families were on the verge of starvation, the letter said. “The inmates have not sent any such letters through us”, jail official Dinesh Nargave said.
The Vyapam scam recently made headlines after almost 40 accused died under mysterious circumstances. The probe was handed over to CBI by Supreme Court.
The total number of FIRs in Vyapam scam by CBI today crossed 50 mark with five new cases registered by the agency in connection with alleged irregularities in the conduct of Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board examinations.
BJP spokesperson Hitesh Bajpai saw nothing unusual in the matter.
