Wade, Bosh spark Heat to 89-84 comeback win over Bulls
After Gasol missed on the Bulls’ next possession, Wade finished it with a step-back, baseline jumper over Gasol with 22.5 seconds left.
Wade was there for the Heat at every turn that seemed to put Miami out of contention for the game, and he kicked off the fourth quarter with two straight baskets for his team. “You can’t play with him, you gotta get to your moves”. The Heat played without two starters, guard Goran Dragic and center Hassan Whiteside, who missed the game because of injuries. Nikola Mirotic contributed 15 points, while Jimmy Butler and Aaron Brooks chimed in with 13 points apiece. Gasol would finish the contest with 19 points and 17 rebounds.
“You take away Golden State (which trounced Chicago 125-94 on Wednesday), we’re 8-0 against the other 2-through-6 in the league”, Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg told reporters.
The Bulls guard left the game in the first half of his team’s 89-84 loss to the Heat with right hamstring and lower back soreness.
Forward Chris Bosh scored 18 points and pulled down seven rebounds, and center Amar’e Stoudemire added eight points and 10 rebounds for Miami (24-21), which snapped a four-game losing streak.
-How about Amare? He’s not the same player he once was but he has been giving the Heat good minutes. We just got to talk it out …
After trailing for the majority of the second half, the Heat took the lead midway through the fourth at 74-73 as Gerald Green scored on a three-point play after being fouled on a mid-range jump shot. He ran gingerly downcourt, made eye contact with his brother Reggie sitting in the end zone and shook his head.
Spoelstra said he hoped the comeback win would provide a boost to Miami going forward.
Rose’s hiatus comes at quite an untimely juncture, as Kirk Heinrich (left quad) and E’twain Moore (right hamstring) were already sidelined Monday with injuries, per Cody Westerlund of CBS Chicago. They welcomed back guard Beno Udrih and Luol Deng, who both returned from injury. Bulls F Mike Dunleavy told reporters Monday that he is targeting a February return. They are really looking to get back to the playoffs and though they are not regarded as one of the contenders this year, the championship pedigree and the top-level players they have are certainly trying to turn them towards that direction.
