Wade free agency meetings back on with Bucks, Bulls and Nuggets
Frustrated with his contract situation, Wade has already instructed his agents to contact several teams about their interest in signing him.
The Bucks, Bulls and Nuggets look to be the Heat’s main competition for Wade’s services.
He was also reportedly upset with Miami making a priority of trying to re-sign Hassan Whiteside and attempting to woo Kevin Durant from Oklahoma City.
The lure of the Cavaliers and playing on the best team in the East, nearly guaranteed to make the NBA Finals by how the last two postseasons have gone down, could be too great for Wade.
According to ESPN, the Milwaukee Bucks had a meeting with Wade but he canceled it at the last minute. Wade is scheduled to be in NY and guest-host “Live With Kelly” alongside Kelly Ripa on Thursday morning, which coincidentally is the day the NBA’s offseason moratorium on player movement expires and new contracts can be signed.
The Heat recently raised their offer to two years and approximately $40 million. Wade met with Micky Arison on Wednesday and the Heat were unwilling to add a third season.
Skolnick of the Miami Herald reported Tuesday that efforts to work out a new contract between the high-profile free agent and the Heat have gotten “ugly”.
To clear salary-cap space for Wade’s homecoming, the Bulls traded guard Jose Calderon to the Los Angeles Lakers and forward Mike Dunleavy to the Cleveland Cavaliers, sources said.
Wade has told friends if he ever left Miami, where he has played 13 seasons and won three titles, it would be to play for his hometown Bulls, sources said.
In the meantime, Dwyane Wade has three more options to deal with apart from Cleveland Cavaliers in case of inevitable concerns and disagreements on his conditions. He also took a moment to reflect on what he’s been able to do as a member of the Heat, and thanked the community from the bottom of his heart.
