Wade leaves Miami for Chicago
Where Dwyane Wade will sign remains a mystery. That would apply to Wade’s salary from home games with the Chicago Bulls and any IL sponsorship deals, but national sponsorship deals would be taxed by the state in which Wade resides.
In New York, Wade was mobbed by autograph-seekers when he left his guest-hosting appearance on the syndicated morning talk show “Live With Kelly”, talked to fans on Snapchat alongside wife Gabrielle Union and finalized his plans for this weekend in Miami.
Wade once called the American Airlines Arena his house, but his new journey is still bringing a sting of pain.
Before reports surfaced about Wade going to Chicago, he also was linked to the Denver Nuggets.
In a shocking plot twist, former Miami Heat Guard Dwyane Wade is reportedly leaving the city he called home for 13 years and is heading back to his hometown of Chicago, where he is said to be signing a two-year, $47 million deal with the Bulls. Instead, the Heat pursued free agents Hassan Whiteside and Kevin Durant before turning their attention to Wade.
Wade, 34, says he’s confident this is the right career move.
Regardless of how long fans have been following the Heat, fans young and old said they feel burned. Pat Riley? I don’t know.
Wade’s departure leaves a hole in the heart of the Heat franchise. Meanwhile, Jimmy Butler, Bulls shooting guard had a phone conversation with Wade in which the latter was recruited on Wednesday, a source said. Quite a drastic change but one that Wade is ready to embrace. Wade remains close with LeBron James; he even attended Game 7 of the Cavs-Warriors series last month. Sure, Jimmy Butler, Dwayne Wade, and Rajon Rondo make a big three – quickly becoming one of my least favorite basketball cliches – but it is a big three that doesn’t fit together, as their games are redundant mostly.
The Cavs however don’t have the salary cap space to sign Wade to a deal even approaching $20 million annually.
Rondo is known as an intelligent player who also has a history of clashing with coaches, most notably Rick Carlisle in Dallas.
Many fans clamored for Wade to join his old buddy James with the Cavaliers after Kevin Durant chose to join the already stacked Golden State Warriors.
