Wal-Mart to give pay raises to most of its workers
Wal-Mart declined to provide the average hourly wages for Sam’s Club workers. It has underperformed the S&P500 by 4.16%. The mean of all analyst targets is $67.55 which is 11.41% above today’s ($60.63) stock price.
Those wages for Wal-Mart stores are still below the $14.95 average that hourly retail workers in a non-supervisory role earn, according to government data that includes people who work at auto dealers and other outlets that would likely pay more than discounters like Wal-Mart. Vetr raised shares of Wal-Mart Stores from a “hold” rating to a “buy” rating and set a $67.77 price objective for the company in a report on Monday, January 11th.
Other equities research analysts also recently issued research reports about the stock. Credit Suisse downgraded the rating on October 15. The company now has a consensus rating of “Hold” and a consensus price target of $65.42. It’s up 0.01, from 0.99 in 2015Q2.
The Wal Mart store in Redwater opened in the early days of January 2015, creating an intense competition for local grocery store, Delaughter’s, causing its closing shortly after the arrival of this giant retailer; and a year later Wal-Mart announced the closing of their location in Redwater, announcing the store will close on January 28.
